I could care a lot less about whether Kagan is gay than whether she wants to vastly increase executive power at the expense of civil liberties. But that problem doesn't seem to bother the Democrats much--kind of like all of the leftover Bush ideas that Obama still keeps in place and that don't seem to bother Dems any more. The saddest part is that the conservatives will probably try to shoot her down as an inexperienced, crazed left-wing loon, even though she probably agrees with most of their political ideas (closeted or in the open).
ReplyDeleteMany say that Obama has actually done more to strengthen executive power than Shrub did, which is a very bad thing.
ReplyDeleteI just realized I wrote "many say" because I've actually heard and read many different people arguing that government secrecy has continued in most areas and expanded in some cases, that the President continues to condone secret "black sites" for keeping and torturing prisoners, and his holding on to the use of "signing statements" to exempt the executive branch from new laws. Unfortunately, "many say" has become Fox Noise's way of thrusting made-up bullshit into the discussion when the only "many" that has "said" anything is the group of Fox Noise pundits and their GOP talking points lords as they wrote their scripts for the day. "Many say, 'Terrorist fist bump?'" for instance.
