Ogre-oids 29 Aug. 2010

Dismas charities: Today's C-J reports the "non-profit" charity organization funded by tax payer dollars purchsed one of the $92,000 suits at the new Yum! downtown arena in Louisville. The CEO makes, according to the C-J, more than most CEO of other charity organizations and last year had an income higher that Papa John sugardaddy J. Schatner, who himself has not been an Ogre-oid in MoPod's brief journalistic history only by default.

NYC skyscraper: the latest outrage in NYC is plans to build a new skyscraper that will rival the Empire State Building. The rationale is to boost the economy by building another giant skyscraper in the vicinity of the Empire State building (Bloomberg-ville thinking that emphasis on the economy and high-rise developments is just what NYC needs). What imagination. NYC needs another skyscraper like the Catholic church needs another pedophile.

CIA funded Afghan operatives: Both the NY Times and Washington Post report that a man at the center of an investigation into corruption in the Karzai administation is on the CIA payroll. Fidel Castro reported that Osama bin Laden is on the CIA payroll to scare the shit out of Americans as soon as the military industrial complex needs more taxpayer dollars to produce more corpses and mutilated bodies. Not that I'm a big fan of Castro, but until bin Laden is found and killed a la Hussien, this theory remains plausible.

Surging deaths in Afghanistan: Three more dead U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan and the Taliban is spreading its reach and influence throughout the country. If I didn't know better, I'd say this looks a lot like Iraq.

Media sugar-coating: "U.S. deaths for the month of August totalled 38, down sharply from 66 last month." See: everything is getting better. Just like since it will be cooler in December than in June: so no global warming. How's that for objectivity?

Spreading violence in Iraq: I know: it's hard to believe. Yet as the U.S. follows through in its plans to withdraw forces from Iraq which it's told the whole world about for the last four years, violence again is on the rise. Time for another surge!

Firing employees for medical marijuana use: Employees using medical marijuana have been fired for testing positive for THC. We can't regulate the financial banks, but sleep well, because if you use medical marijuana you'll be fired! That'll help put Americans back to work!

"Restoring honor": Glenn Beck's call to restore "American values" by recognizing God is our King is like saying we should all eat with chopsticks and use the metric system. America was founded on freedom of speech and religion and a democratic system that has a President, not a monarchy--but if you need to be reminded of that you are already a brain-dead tool.

President Obama's "military learning curve": Mainstream media again depict our commander-in-chief as someone who needs to learn about America's military culture. This point betrays that the military does not honor authority and respect. Obama is the commander-in-chief. If you respect authority, then you do what he says, rather than tell him what he should do. The military can't even fight wars functionally (see above). I don't give them much credibility for telling a Harvard law school graduate and editor of its law review how to do his job.

Catholic priests: when they're not butt-fucking deaf male youths, Catholic priests like Deacon Dominick Azzara defend war by saying that "I thank God we have young men and women willing to die for our country." Of all the times we hear about the Ten Commandments, the one context where it might actually be welcome might something like "Thou shall not kill" when discussing the loss of life in the Fort Campbell, Ky area. Alas, not to be.

Necro-fest, Obama Style: American Troop Deathtoll Exceeds 1,000

A car bomb that struck a U.S. convoy at the American base in Bagram Wednesday morning reportedly killed five or more American soldiers, pushing the total body count of U.S. dead past 1,000. Of course, in the written archive of losses of life in wars throughout history, this number is nothing, so it really doesn't matter. But the Times article graphically depicts the "mayhem and carnage" left from the explosion. Here are some details:

"Limbs and entails flew hundreds of feet"

"survivors lay in the road with missing limbs moaning for help"

"in a passanger bus, an Afghan woman lay dead in her seat, cut in half, with her baby still squirming in her arms. 50 yards away, a man's head lay on the hood of a truck"

"an Afghan soldier appeared carrying a large red trash bag filled with human brains"

This butchering and mutilation of the human body exemplifies the tireless obsession America and its war machine have with necrophilia--the fixation with corpses and mutiliated bodies, and the never-ending need to make more of them to stimulate gratification. The graphic carnage and 1,000th American death are courtesy of Barack "Change" Obama's escalation of the Afghan war, and a mind-bogglingly futile policy that perpetuates the mentality of his predecesor whom he promised to go in a different direction from during campaign season (imagine that).

A related article in today's times that prefaces a double-page spread of the 1,000 dead--mostly young men in their twenties--details the international debate that preceeded Obama's escalation in Afghanistan. European strategists said that an American increase in troops would only serve to increase casualties among civilians and soldiers alike. But just as Bush did with Iraq, Obama went against cautionary voices and went ahead with the troop escalation knowing that it was almost certain casualties would rise "before security improved." Here is the classic American insanity at work: near-certain loss of life is incurred in the name of speculative "improvement in security." How will security improve for the people today who lost their lives, brains, innards, limbs, and mother's? Obama is another war-mongering puppet, spouting hollow drivel about progressive politics and moving beyond the Bush-Cheney nightmare while simultaneously doing his best to re-create Iraq circa 2004-2005. The mounting loss of life, carnage, pain, and misery are never enough to bring the wars to an end, which is what any halfway decent leader would do. The U. S. has had a decade to accomplish something worthwhile in both countries and instead continues a huge-spending cycle of token achievements that inevitably give way to more casualties, destruction, and deteriorating conditions. The Times reports that in the time since the U.S. surge in Afghanistan, improvised explosive devices (I. E. D.s) have become more powerful and plentiful. Imagine that as well: as the U.S. has escalated its efforts in Afghanistan, its opponent, the Taliban, has done the same. It's almost like Ghandi was right when he said all violence does is lead to more violence. Meanwhile, Americans continue to get aroused by the "Power of Pride" that turns living humans into corpses. Americans' addiction to necrophilia and sadistic voyeurism distorts protracted war as a heroic devotion to victory, and the rising death toll continues to be a meaningless footnote to Obama's corpse orgy.

More Civilian Afghan Corpses courtesy Uncle Sam

Today's NY Times reports that a U.S. Army convoy killed five Afghan civilians and seriously wounded up to 18--meaning more causalties could follow--when military personnel opened fire on a passanger bus that, according to the military, approached a checkpoint "at a high rate of speed." This is the latest incident where U.S. military has fired upon and killed civilians. The typical American response consists of cliches: "it's a tragic loss of life"--as though anyone needed that insight--and excuses: young soldiers have to make split-second decisions when facing approaching vehicles at checkpoints. But as one Afghan from the bus asked, "If they're concerned, why not shoot out the tires?" and thus force the bus to stop. According to the Times, over thirty people have been killed and eighty wounded by U.S military, and not a single one of these individuals posed a threat. "It seems they are opening fire on civilians intentionally," says one Afghan. Of course, most Americans couldn't care less about these civilian deaths. Since the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, as sports programming reminds us, it's all for the better that these people died. Life isn't perfect (especially if you're getting killed). And as we've learned from the Iraq, as soon as someone dies, American or not, then it isn't happening anymore, so everything is getting better. Since these five people have already died, they aren't dying right now, which means conditions are improving.

All We Are Saying Is Give War a Chance

Dr. David W. Overbey - Ah, Cupid was in the air this past week, but he wasn’t shooting arrows of passion into the hearts of lovers . . . he was firing rounds of machine-gun bullets into the evil Taliban! Indeed, the NY Times tribute to the annual celebration of love and romance was one of the most blatant pro-war propaganda pieces I’ve ever read not translated from German.
Once again it is obvious to me that America’s mainstream war-mongering, psychotic zeitgeist marches on, unfettered, undaunted, and popular as ever! Here I thought Valentine’s Day was a time to focus on love and romance, the magic of two human hearts coming together, the dizziness and ecstasy of warm vapors tingling our veins and sex organs. What a forlorn Romantic I am! As it turns out, once again I’m wrong: Valentine’s Day is a day to pander to the majority cross-section of American women whose clits throb at the sight of face-painted big muscle soldiers spilling blood in a never-ending corpse fest, the flag and Christ-child transposed on the heavens above a precious sea of oil denied the good Christians of America by a bunch miserly sandniggers.

No wonder I never I get laid.

The piece is a narrative depicting Company K as a group of young heroes who become men by facing combat for the first time and wiping out sinister and cowardly Taliban who bait them into an open field rigged with explosives and attempt to ambush them . . . but are outdone by the good guys fighting for freedom! The last line of the “article” says it all: the nurturing commanders make sure their nascent professional killers in the company are all accounted for (so cute!) while they traverse a field littered with Taliban corpses. As always, the Americans are the winners! Which is good, because after all, if you want to get laid on Valentine’s Day (or any other time of year) you can’t be a loser! Losers don’t get pussy, understand? The Times piece is obvious propaganda disguised as journalism, appealing to the huge cross-section of Americans—especially women—who love and are apparently aroused by war, e.g. “Navy seals rock!”

Don’t tell me the high school I’m-gonna-kick-your-ass pro-war mindset is relegated to the white trash hotspots of the Midwest and South. The NY Times knows its audience and demographic, and the fact it would publish pro-war propaganda on a holiday traditionally inspired by love (you know, the opposite of war, as in “make love not war”) betrays what really turns Americans on: glorifying systematic mass murder. What it took Jeffrey Dahmer years to do, without CIA clearance or tax payer dollars, Company K accomplished all in the course of a “cumming”-of-age afternoon.

Obviously, this kind of propaganda is a symptom of America’s collective September 11 complex: a mass denial of epic proportions. The sad truth is that the war of terrorism lasted for about an hour and a half: the time it took for the hijackers to get control of the planes, veer them toward their targets, and blow them up . . . with the additional half hour encore of watching people jump out of windows a hundred stories above ground, and the crescendo of the towers falling and a whole city of people running for their lives away from a monstrous swath of debris about to devour them. That was the end of it, and America got its ass kicked. It was a huge loss on our home turf—horrifying, humiliating, and the beginning of the end of the American dynasty. So the collective, typically dumbass American response has been to drag out that awful morning until, apparently, the end of time, the idea being that if that horrible moment is never allowed to end, then we can somehow still rescue victory from the smoldering heap of burnt flesh and jet fuel left at ground zero, the graveyard of a nation. Dragging out and drawing out the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq is like continuing to jack off over a hot woman who dominated you instead of fucked you. It’s sick and sad. It’s something somehow even worse than war: a perpetual surrender that turns everything—even a sappy holiday of overpriced dinners, chocolate, and condoms—into a codified ritual where the only way to be sexy is to put on that uniform and keep on killing.
