BP Ends Meeting When Someone Brings in Some "Missing" Oil

Not surprisingly, at a public meeting BP shuts off the mics when a fisherman pulls out a bag of oil he got out of the marshes a few miles away after BP claims there is no oil.

More Doom for the World's Oceans

Over 500 penguins have washed up dead on the shores of Brazil recently as well as some turtles and a porpoise.  The cause of death appears to be starvation.  These penguins usually feed over a wide area and should be finding huge amounts of food.  I have this horrible feeling this is another sign of the death of life in the oceans of the world.  In 1808 the passenger pigeon numbered in the billions and there were many millions of bison.  By the end of that century there were no passenger pigeons and only a few thousand bison hiding in Yellowstone.  Yes we can obliterate all life in the oceans because we're foolish enough to believe we can't.

Ex-FEMA director Michael Brown today claimed that President Obama waited to respond to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico because he wanted an excuse to shut down offshore drilling.

When obtaining the license to build this enormous oil well that reached over a mile down into the water to drill, baby drill, BP said the chances of an explosion or catastrophic accident was next to zero.  Aren't these same people making the same claims about nuclear power plants?

Oh, and a little tidbit about this that brings a nostalgic image of the evil Dick Cheney to the mind's eye:  Haliburton was the company that did the cementing, a process of injecting cement to line the well cap and the walls of the well to contain the highly explosive gases.  Haliburton's cementing is also implicated as the cause of the gigantic Timor oil well blowout last year.

As Virginia Thomas tells it in her soft-spoken, Midwestern cadence, the story of her involvement in the "tea party" movement is the tale of an average citizen in action.

She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and she has launched a tea-party-linked group that could test the traditional notions of political impartiality for the court...

 It leaves me gasping like a fish that finds itself suddenly on the shore.  I knew Justice Thomas was a moron but couldn't his wife wait until he retired to become an open supporter of these America haters?  She even uses the idea of  "what made America great" to define these bigots, assholes, idiots, and fascists.  Is that really "what made America great?"  It wasn't tolerance, unions, regulation of industry and finance, reluctance to enter wars, free thinking, and individual freedom?  It wasn't outlawing and abhorring torture?  What made America great was semi-literate hate mongers with no proof of their allegations, just belief?  Fuck that America.
