The common trope (from the right, of course) is that the Democrats have gone as far to the left as the GOP has gone to the right. Simple scientific examination shows that this is, as expected, utter bullshit. Dems vote moderate to conservative most of the time and have voted more conservative over the last couple of decades while the GOP has rocketed to the far right extreme.
